One of the podcasts I listen to everyday is, The Total Life Freedom podcast hosted by @pugliesevincent @totallifefreedom1 … this past Saturday’s episode “Were we Educated or Were we Schooled,” really resonated with me.
Last week my 17 year old was on the phone with my X. I could hear only one side of the conversation where my son stated multiple times, “I don’t want to go to college”. This was not a new conversation. There have been several people, who I am sure had the best intentions, trying to push him toward college. My son, at 17 has started his own business. He listens to business and mindset podcasts. At 17 he states, “I want the freedom to determine my future”. He doesn’t want to depend on a boss to control his financial success. He wants the freedom to cultivate the skills he needs to succeed. He has a clear plan for the next few years as far as what he wants to do to learn the skills he will need. It’s amazing how many people don’t trust this thought. It’s amazing how many adults wake up miserable because they stayed in the job they thought was a safe bet. I am so proud of my son for having the courage to try this entrepreneurial path. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that he will make this work. I am grateful for podcasts like this one that provide a place for young people like my son to feel support while teaching valuable business and life lessons. On my morning walk today I was struck by something

On my morning walk today I was struck by something… I often share pictures of this place, Epworth by the Sea. I walk the property every morning, and usually again at night. You’ve seen pictures I have shared but they’ve been filled with sunlight. Today, as the fog was rolling gently up off the water I could see the parallels between that fog and life. You see, even in the fog, there was immense beauty and wonder before me. It did not cease to exist just because the sun was not shining. Too many times we forsake God because things aren’t going well. We expect Him to give us a perfect journey in life and when that doesn’t happen, so many people begin to turn away from Him. I think many priests and pastors do not hit this point hard enough…. God doesn’t promise a perfect journey. He does tell us that if we seek we will find Him. He says He will share the road with us, be by our side (and sometimes lift and carry us through)for the journey if we but place our faith in Him. The beauty of the journey exists whether it is bathed in sunlight, or hovering under dense fog. The difference is who is traveling that journey with you? Are they supporting you during that journey and making you stronger through it… or are they standing by your side encouraging you not to see your way out. The difference rests in faith.
